About Us

What makes Lucky Cat different?

For starters, we are located in a charming 100-year old house rather than a commercial storefront.
Second, Lucky Cat is the only nonprofit cat cafe in Kentucky AND one of very few nonprofits in the US – most cat cafes are for-profit businesses. Third, a team of about 45 volunteers runs everything, from feeding cats to answering visitors’ questions.
We work closely with 4 local rescue organizations that provide cats and kittens to us.
Sorry, we are not able to accept stray or surrendered cats from the general public.

Lucky Cat Café is home to more than a dozen cats and kittens. All of them are adoptable although most visitors come to play, hang out, and pet cats. We specialize in adult, senior, and disabled cats because they are the ones who need help finding furever homes.

Lucky Cat Café is one big cat community where visitors enjoy sharing stories and tips with each other!

Check us out and see what makes us special.

Mission

To help reduce overcrowding in local shelters by providing a peaceful, temporary home for homeless cats until they are adopted. To provide opportunities for visitors to interact with cats in a safe and positive manner. To educate people about cat health and well-being.

About Us

BJ Wysoske, Executive Director, and her cat, Wilbur, a former resident of Lucky Cat Café.

Karla Spencer created and founded Lucky Cat Cafe in 2018, and she served as the
Executive Director until end of 2023.
She had a vision of what a nonprofit cat cafe should be, serving as a model for others to follow.
When Karla retired, Barbra (BJ) Wysoske stepped up to take the leadership reins as Executive Director. BJ has been a volunteer at Lucky Cat since 2022 and her two cats, Evie and Wilbur, were former residents of the café.

The vision of these pioneers of the state’s first and only nonprofit cat cafe has resulted in a magical place that has been visited by cat-lovers from across the U.S. and around the world.
